A short window may require quick action

The FTC describes a cooling-off right for certain sales made at a home or other covered location. Exceptions apply. State rules and the transaction’s details can also matter. Do not use a generic internet deadline as a substitute for checking your documents and circumstances.

Preserve proof of delivery

Find any cancellation notice included in your contract. Record when and how you received it, the date you signed, and where the sale occurred. If you send a notice, preserve a complete copy and evidence of delivery. Ask counsel promptly about the correct recipient and method.

A missed window is a separate question

Expiration of an initial cancellation period does not, by itself, decide every later dispute about the sale or performance. Conversely, a later complaint is not an automatic right to cancel. A case-specific review should address the applicable deadlines and potential remedies.

General educational information. Your contract, location, and dates matter. Ask for advice about your circumstances before making legal or payment decisions.

Gather dates without guessing the deadline

Keep the signed agreement, cancellation forms, delivery records, and the location and method of the sale together. Flag any later document that changed the agreement or any notice received from a court or collector. The Problem Finder records dates for review; it does not compute legal deadlines or send a cancellation notice.

Build the review file

Signed installation and finance agreements, lease or PPA; the proposal and disclosures; signing records; utility bills and production reports; photos and inspections; messages and complaint responses; permit, PTO, warranty and account notices.

Common mistakes to avoid

Do not delete original messages, crop away dates, or send only the signature page. Do not assume a complaint stops a payment obligation or a deadline. Before accepting a repair, buyout, or release, identify what it changes. You can contact us even if records are incomplete; tell us what is missing.

Questions homeowners ask

Do I need every document before contacting you?

No. Start with what happened and what records you have. The team can explain what additional material may be useful and how to share it securely.

Does this problem mean I can cancel or stop paying?

This page cannot determine that. The agreements, parties, evidence, and applicable rules need individual review. Do not change payments based on a calculator or this guide.

What happens after a free review request?

Our intake team reviews the inquiry and contacts you using the details supplied. Any retained investigation or representation requires a separate agreement describing scope and fees. This is not an emergency response service.
